Rebound: Diagnosis & Treatment

After years of recording music and touring around the country and the world, Tisdale began to experience pain in his knee. In February 2007, he fell down the stairs in his home and broke his leg. Tests at the hospital revealed a tumor below his knee, and he was diagnosed with bone cancer a few months later.

Doctors, stumped by Tisdale's size, did not administer the proper dosage of chemotherapy medication during his first round of treatment, rendering it unsuccessful. Tisdale underwent another round of chemo, as well as a knee replacement, before having his leg amputated in August 2008, hopeful that would prevent a cancer relapse.

"His latest work, though, has little to do with basketball. 'Rebound' is inspired by Tisdale's ongoing fight against the bone cancer that was discovered last year in his right knee when he broke his leg at his Los Angeles home.

The journey from the diagnosis to recovery is evident in the jazz guitarist's new album, which starts with the title track and ends with 'Grateful,' which he says is inspired by the cancer's early discovery and how that increased his chances for survival."
