Becoming a Musician Full-Time

Tisdale recorded and released two more albums before officially announcing his retirement from the NBA in 1997. Leaving behind an impressive legacy as an athlete, Tisdale went on to devote his life to making music and sharing it with the world.

Although he released five records before a radio station would play his songs, Tisdale persevered, driven by a desire to share his joy of music with others. Between 1995 and 2010, Tisdale released nine jazz albums, four of which hit no. 1 on the jazz charts, and one gospel album. His final album, The Fonk Record, was released posthumously.

'Power Forward,' 'In the Zone' and 'Decisions' have each garnered considerable char success. He has also been a contributor and composer. In 2000, he produced, played and composed a number of tracks for contemporary gospel star Tarralyn Ramsey's self-titled debut.
